Brain Injury RESEARCH
Intervention to Change Affect Recognition and Empathy
The purpose of the study is to find out if a new teletherapy program can help individuals with TBI better recognize and respond to others' feelings and improve their relationships. The study involves 5 assessment visits (~90-120 minutes each) with surveys about your social skills and behaviors, mood, and relationships. Completed separately with your family member/ companion. 12 teletherapy sessions (~ 60-90 minutes each) that include recognizing facial expressions, imitating emotions, discussion of feelings in response to personal events, and understanding and responding to others’ thoughts and feelings. Your ICARE partner will be asked to join the last 5 sessions. Study participation will last ~9 months.
